Wild Iris Pet Sitting & Dog Walking is a team of experienced pet care professionals dedicated to providing exceptional in-home care and lasting peace of mind for pet owners.
We deliver personalized, high-standard services designed to support both travel and everyday routines. Our offerings include drop-in visits, dog walks, and overnight care, thoughtfully tailored to meet the unique needs of dogs, cats, small animals, and exotic pets. Every visit is carried out with careful attention to safety, routine, and emotional well-being—ensuring pets remain comfortable and well-cared for in the familiarity of their own home.
Wild Iris began operating as a full-time business on February 26, 2021, first serving families in Fairbanks, Alaska. Following continued growth and the expansion of our team, services were later introduced in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Today, Wild Iris is defined by dependable service, skilled care, and a commitment to thoughtful detail. Our purpose is simple: to provide professional pet care that feels calm, seamless, and entirely stress-free for both pets and their people.
Our Story
My passion for pet care began in childhood, when I convinced my parents to let me adopt my first dog, Missy—a two-year-old border collie mix who had a rough start in life. She was gentle, shy, and sweet as pie; I connected with her the moment I saw her. With time, love, and patience, Missy slowly came out of her shell and became my very best friend. Caring for her taught me responsibility at a young age and showed me the deep bond that forms between people and their pets.
Years later, as Missy entered her senior years, her mental and physical health began to decline. Her veterinarian discovered a softball-sized mass in her lungs, and her daily care suddenly became much more complex. She was prescribed multiple medications that needed to be given three times a day and began experiencing frequent accidents, decreased mobility, and periods of intense anxiety.
As a full-time college student balancing work and school, I desperately needed help with her care and struggled to find someone I could truly trust to provide the attentive, compassionate, and gentle support she required. Thankfully, I had people in my life who were willing to help where they could, but it became abundantly clear that this was not the reality for many pet owners.
I said goodbye to my sweet old lady on April 2, 2019, and began my mission to fill the profound need for professional pet care within my community.
Wild Iris Pet Sitting & Dog Walking was founded on a simple but meaningful promise: to provide thoughtful, reliable pet care delivered with patience and genuine compassion.
Today, the company is built around the belief that exceptional pet care is not just about meeting basic needs—it’s about creating comfort, preserving routines, and ensuring every pet feels safe, valued, and deeply cared for while their families are away.
